Cinque Terre

May 4, 2010

“The Five Lands”. I had been looking forward to this trip the whole duration of my stay here in Italy. Too bad it had to be the time frame that it did. Too bad I didn’t spend as much time on my projects as I would have liked. And too bad our hotel was a pain in the butt to get to. But it was all worth it in the end. Absolutly amazing. Easily one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Ironically though, it is only that way if you work for it. The five cities are connected by a hiking trail, which takes you through some of the most rigourous hikes possible. I was absolutly exhausted by the end. But like I said, completly worth it. Following are some pictures from the hike.Warning: Lots of photos.

A view of Riomaggiore from the break water outcropping. This is where I ripped a hole in my jeans, just for this photo. And to lay in the sun for awhile.

Oh no. Landslides.

Actually, before we even made it to Cinque Terre, on Friday, it was raining. So we decided to head to Portovenere. This town ended up being my favorite of the towns that we visited that weekend. (La Spezia, Portovenere, Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso)

Still left to come (somehow) before I leave Italy:Tivoli, and Civitas.
